Common Diabetes Concerns
Blood glucose level can be linked to health concerns

As a person with diabetes, you need to be on the lookout for some specific day-to-day health concerns related to your blood glucose control.

The goal in good control is to keep your blood glucose in a focused range. But even with diligent diabetes management, it is still possible for your blood glucose to occasionally drop too low, or spike too high. You can feel weak or ill, and you might even find yourself in a potentially serious situation that requires medical attention. It’s important to know what to watch for, and how to take care of yourself if your blood glucose moves toward an extreme level.

Some common diabetes concerns are:

Hypoglycemia
Sometimes blood glucose can drop too low, especially if you are using diabetes medications or insulin.

Hyperglycemia
Extremely high blood glucose is another significant health concern for people with diabetes.

Diabetic Ketoacidosis
Hyperglycemia can lead to Diabetic Ketoacidosis (DKA), a potentially dangerous situation, mainly found among people with Type 1 diabetes.

Hyperosmolar Syndrome
Hyperglycemia can also lead to this potentially dangerous situation, Hyperosmolar Syndrome, mainly found among people with Type 2 diabetes.
